Andrea’s boyfriend here… testing the connections between https://andithetourguide.com, http://twitter.com/TourGuideAndi, and her Facebook page. She’ll be posting LIVE updates here on her website via her Android phone during her walk today. The post will also automatically update Twitter and Facebook. If she had to update all 3 sites manually on her phone, she’d get blisters on her fingers in addition to the ones she’ll be getting on her feet. 🙂

3 Days and $120 Away from the Walk

posted in: Avon Walk 0

Only 3 days from now, I will be at the registration booth for the 2010 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer – San Francisco, signing in to receive my final instructions. And the next morning, I’ll be off to my 39 mile walk! Over the next 3 days however, I still need to raise another $120 to be able to get the “green light” on Friday afternoon. Help me get there! I’m sooo close! Thank you very much again for all the … Read More

A Garage Sale for a Cure

posted in: Avon Walk 0

Whoever thought that a garage sale cannot be a good preparation for the 39-mile walk coming up in just under 2 weeks? Well, it can! And thanks to many, many, many donations for a good cause, the Hope For Hooters team pulled off a 3-day garage sale over the 06/25-27 weekend! Originally planned to be only Saturday morning, we realized during set up on Thursday, that  we had bitten off more than we could chew – at least in 1 … Read More

Pink … Gloves!

This weekend had to pass without any progress in my walk training – but sometimes there are more immediate things that need your support. With my blisters from last weekend almost gone, I’m ready for some new miles being added to my shoes! But the “pink cause” does not go unnoticed even for a day. A big “Danke schön” to my sister Tina, who not only made a generous donation to my Avon Walk fundraising pot, but also sent me a link which … Read More

3x 13 miles practice = 39 miles … with photos!

posted in: Avon Walk 0

With only 49 days left ’til the walk, it was about time to get serious. Serious with the walk training! And with donations having rushed in over the last few days (a BIG thank you to all you contributors!), I was ” pumped” this morning, ready for a 13-mile training walk in the city. Ok, getting up just after 5 (!) am to be at the Presidio by 8 am on a Saturday morning is not really my thing. But … Read More

On the Bridge

No, I have not lost Teri and Judy! But we’re almost done: already on the return walk across Golden Gate Bridge. It’s a BEAUTIFUL day in the city, perfect weather for a nice long walk … and about 2 1/2 miles left to go.

Approaching the Golden Gate Bridge

After starting the walk from the Crissy Field/Presidio, we’re headed East parallel to Lombard Street, over the hill and down to Fishermen’s Wharf. Returning along the Marina, we reach the Golden Gate Bridge after about 6-7 miles. Feet update: all is well (still).
