A B-Day Trip to Mendocino

posted in: Weekend Travel 0

For our birthday, it was Sabine’s turn to come to the US this year … And did I have plans for this round!

Even though she barely made it over (due to the volcanic ash cloud over Europe … getting her stuck in Barcelona for a week … and then a “last seat” on the SFO flight after airspace had been opened up again just a couple of days earlier…), she got here in time! Not just to celebrate our birthday (together with friends), but also for the first official trip in Kirk’s & my new trailer!

With reservations made at the Mancester Beach KOA (full hook up – to try everything out!) along the Mendocino Coast, we were ready to head up North on our birthday (Thu). With all kinds of stops in between, it was almost 7 pm before we got to our destination. But only shortly thereafter, we had successfully set up camp on site 51.

The area offers some great scenery, sights and more! Beautiful coast line, Point Arena Lighthouse (this is where the movie “Forever Young” with Mel Gibson was filmed in 1992), and nice lunch spots & shopping in Mendocino.

After only 2 days/nights, it was time to pack up again & head home. The trailer and its crew (= Kirk & I) successfully managed the electricity/water/sewer hook ups!

And we’re ready for more! 🙂 Next trip to be planned for a date in the near future!
