Day 3: A Day of Driving

On day 3, we woke up at and started our journey at Diamond Lake just north of Crater Lake. It was basically a long drive starting above 5000ft, down the mountain to I5. We were getting great mileage during that leg. We made it to Eugene where we fueled up. It was our last gas stop in Oregon where you’re not allowed to gas up yourself…no self serve here. We then hit Portland, took a left and headed northwest to Hwy 101. After 30 minutes of traffic in Seaside, we finally made it to the border in Astoria, OR. Finally, we crossed into Washington to take the mandatory “border sign photos” with our big grins :-). Cape Disappointment, our destination for the evening was only 10 minutes ahead.

Were we disappointed when we arrived? Now when we have the Bogensperger family waiting to greet us! They are nearing the end of ther 2 week RV trip… and the next three nights we’re travelling together north up through Washington to enjoy Olympic National Park.
