A Heavenly Day for Skiing

posted in: Weekend Travel 0

Day #1 of the 2010/11 ski season had to wait for late January to come around, but then the conditions were perfect: a great room at Timber Lodge, great weather & snow, and great firends to enjoy the mountain with! Breaking up our busy skiing-boarding day for lunch, Kristina & Kody came up to the new Tamarack Lodge, at the top of the Gondola. And then, Kody wanted nothing more than to join Clae (on the board), me (on skis, … Read More

Ohhh the pain.  We went to watch the final launch of STS-133, Space Shuttle Discovery.  It was supposed to launch on Monday.  Then Tuesday.  Delayed till Wednesday, Scrubbed on Thursday and rescheduled for Friday.  Friday was our last chance since we were flying out Saturday morning.  Well, Murphy has his say and they ended up shelving the launch for 3+ more weeks.  Did I say pain? Ohhh. But, we still took a tour of Kennedy Space Center and even took … Read More

Another big part of our trip was to the beautiful Everglades National Park.  We took lots of photos here.  It was hard to sift through them all for this post.  Enjoy!

Finally – we’re on vacation! After a “trip” to Austria this summer and many weekends spent Fun Finder-camping this year, we are now traveling across the USA to spend a week away from everything, doing: nothing. With a super-early rise to get out of the house at 5:15 am, we are on … Read More

It’s been 2 weeks already! Or maybe: only!? in any way, we’re off camping again. Yep, the little Fun Finder does not get much of a break these days! Long planned this time around, the camping website “Camp California” was promoting a great deal for the October 1-3 weekend: stay at a select campground, and get a full hook up site for 2 nights for only $50 all inclusive. No doubt that between Kristina and I, we had the website … Read More

What better weekend to go down to LA to visit the Austrian Consulate than over September 26, the Austrian-American Day (per President Clinton’s Proclamation 7027 from 1997!? None, so this weekend was to be it! After making good time on our way down to the outskirts of LA, we came to an almost-stop on the freeway as a camping/travel trailer had crashed into the center divider, causing 3 lanes to be blocked (an hour delay was the result). What better … Read More

Camping … Napa Valley-style

posted in: Weekend Travel 0

With no plans for the upcoming weekend, it takes only a quick moment to decide what we want to do: go camping! Again! So after picking up the trailer Friday night, calling ahead to get a site, we are on the road late Saturday morning, heading north -towards Calistoga in the Napa Valley. Bothe Napa Valley State Park has a small, no hook-up campground, with pretty (small) sites and great trees & shrubs for privacy. Only a mad person would attempt to sneak through … Read More
