To go to Mexico or not to go – that’s the question
Wednesday, March 31, 2010: San Diego, San Ysidro Took bus and trolley to downtown San Diego, walked Gaslamp Quarter and Horton Plaza, and took the trolley to San Ysidro. Went over the bridge to Mexico, but didn’t leave the U.S. but returned to our campground. On the way back (walking) bought some stuff at Grocery Outlet and carried 7 plastic bags more than 3 miles back to the campground (very imprecise map showing store much closer than in reality!)
Finding Fun in Albuquerque!
What do you get when you take a guy (Kirk) who wanted a simple camping trailer, and a girl (Andrea) who wanted a full size motorhome? You get the Fun Finder X-139! Barely 14 feet long, this baby has it all! A true trailer on the outside, an all-inclusive home-on-the-road inside … full bathroom included! And after we had seen this fun little thing at the Sacramento RV Show in early March, we were hooked. Finding it (used) anywhere near the … Read More

“It never rains in Southern California”
Tuesday, March 30, 2010: Los Angles – San Diego Had arranged for early pickup by Cruise America and got to the station at 10:00 – being the first customers. Got a 2009 model RV, self-served our convenience packs including extra dishes, plaids, and chemicals. Invaded WalMart, stowed all stuff, and headed south to Chula Vista. TomTom was quite helpful, but finally stopped us 1 mile away from KOA San Diego. Asking a guy on the street finally got us to … Read More

Heavenly skiing …
Heavenly! That’s how I usually feel on the slopes of Lake Tahoe’s highest elevation ski resort Heavenly! This weekend, we’re on our next trip up to the snow – spening Friday night at TimberLodge again, to enjoy a full day skiing. The usual suspects (Andrea & Kirk, Kristina & Clae & Kody) are being joined this time by the Stewarts (Alexis & Matt & Jake & Kobe), to test the motto; “the more the merrier”. While Kristina & Alexis took the boys sledding … Read More
Kirk in the Woods?
Skiing on groomed runs is one thing. Skiing through the woods is a different thing. For this year, Kirk and I will stick to the easy/intermediate runs. And today we’ve chosen another one of my favorite ski resorts in the Sierra: Kirkwood! (the name says it all) The 3rd time is a charm, right? So heading up the mountains on a Sunday morning at 6am (leaving Dublin) / 6:30am (leaving Livermore, Kristina, Clae, Kirk & me – all piled up the Murano) has … Read More
